Floor Exercises

Floor exercises are considered to be the most important routine in the rehabilitation of children.

The individual exercises done to each patient involves a variation of the degree of the difficulty and duration in accordance with the condition of the limitation of the child’s disability. This includes but not limited to stretching wherein the muscle(s) are lengthened by extension (passive and active stretching) and the reflex inhibition exercises done by kids with Cerebral Palsy or with those faulty reflexes.

Strengthening of the muscles opposite to that hypertonic ones are used to increase the active range of motion and the flexibility of the spastic muscles. Various tools are also being used while performing these kinds of exercise on the floor or mat. Physio balls, rolls, wedges, bolsters, balance boards, etc. are among the tools used to facilitate these kinds of exercises.
