Sensory integration room

There are an increasing number of children diagnosed with Neurodevelopmental Disorders that upsets the growth and development of the brain or central nervous system. These children most likely have suffer from sensory problems like the senses of sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste, balance, body in space. This is a disorder of the brain function that affects emotion, learning ability, self-control and memory that unfolds as the individual grows.

Sensory integration therapy is based on the assumption that the child is either overstimulated or under stimulated by the environment. Therefore, the aim of this therapy is to improve the ability of the brain to process sensory information so that the child will function better in his daily activities. This therapy will help address most of the learning abilities, emotion, self-control and memory problems that these children often have.

Sensory Integration Room is designed to make the child want to run into it and play. This room is equipped with some specialized visual, touch, smell and auditory stimuli to stimulate the sense of the child. This room will help to alert all the senses of a child. The sense of sight will be stimulated through attractive colors and interesting presentation helping the child focus on one aspect while increasing his learning skills and self-control. The sense of hearing will also be stimulated by playing wonderful music that would guide the child inside the room making him explore the room. Activities to stimulate other senses such as the smell, touch, balance will be thought-out by the attending therapist of the child depending on his/her condition.
